Hi all, Yesterday I got DSL. I installed the modem, etc. and found the DSL light was flashing red (supposed to be green.) I called tech support and they said that it meant that my service was not up and running yet and I should wait. I then got online with my dial-up modem, surfed and disconnected. My dh made a phone call. After he was done the 'phone was dead. I unplugged the DSL and it was still dead. I unplugged all but the telephone line and still had problems. Sometimes I heard nothing, other times I heard a busy-type signal and other times I heard a dial tone.
The phone guy came and said that there is a short in my modem and now the DSL and phone line are working but I don't know what happened to the modem. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but after uninstalling it, my computer couldn't find the modem again. I can get online with the DSL but I would still like to know what happened and if it is possible to fix. Thanks!
