Just out of curiosity, Peter, why not do it the easy way? When I upgrade to a new system I just take the HD out of the old one and mount it as a slave in the new one long enough to transfer the data I want onto the new system. When you've got it all, and you're SURE you've got it all, then you can reformat it while it's still in the new system, saving a bit of the hassle when you take it out and mount it in your ancillary system. No CDs to burn, no network required. The only requirement is at least one (currently) empty drive bay in the new system.

I usually used to also put DOS 6.22 and CD-ROM drivers on it, so I can start the install/upgrade chain. I don't have a bootable install CD and all my Windows install CDs since Windows 95 have been upgrade versions, so I have to run them from Windows. Nowadays I own Acronis True Image, so I just image the disk and go from there.

Cheers,
Scott

Subject: [wdvltalk] OT - MS Outlook

I'm preparing to install a new (faster) PC. (going from 440 MHz to 1.6 GHz) I've copied most data I want to move to a third unit or onto CDs. (No network at the moment but that's going to be part of the new setup!) However, I can't find where Outlook stores the Contacts and Task Files which I also need. Can anyone help? I've tried following the Help file in Outlook but still can't follow it! (I don't get what they say when I click as they instruct!

(The reason for the needing the copies is that the current HD has loads of junk on it and I am going to reformat it as part of the exercise, so must save what I want first, but the only other HD I have isn't big enough to take all I need!)

TIA

Peter MacGregor
