Thanks for the info about the line height.  I will do that.

The problem is this: I used a table for my menu. I tried doing the menu in css using <li> etc. but it was too complicated. Any other ideas?

I do agree with Will regarding this issue; it will be easier to read with
the narrower text box.  Another thing you could try is the line-height
attribute on the "maintext" class.  I find that setting this a bit higher
than the default value increases legibility.
