Generic question - where do you find inspiration? (For a website.) I have a new client that gave me a site that he likes but I can't copy it for numerous reasons. Any hints, tips, advice?

I always ask the client for example sites that they like. Then I might use some general ideas from it, but customize it to my client's needs. It's never a copy, just a place to start especially if there is something about the site they like in particular that can be adapted for use on the one I'm developing. Kind of like grabbing bits and pieces here and there to make a whole.
