actually, lots and lots of advertising takes this tactic today.
think about all the car ads -- with trees blown down in front of them or
some other 'horror' that the driver avoids because she/he has a
maneuvable car.
this is a rather blatent way to prey on the insecurities of those who
have to make decisions ... and who will be held accountable, in some
way, for those decisions ... when they don't /know/ enough about the
alternatives to actually /make/ a good decision
/political/ ads do this ALL the time.
