I mourned the change in BYTE back in about 1985.  I remember when I built 
my Z-80 (heathkit) back in 1979.  There were no programs at all available 
for it.  I pretty much taught myself BASIC and assembly from the code 
snippets in BYTE back at the time (still have a stack of late-1970s BYTEs 
somewhere).  My high school electronics teacher used to use those as 
class lessons as well.

Can't say I've more than browsed an issue in a decade  :P
