Kathy, I don't think it has anything to do with NT. An article at
http://www.mercurycenter.com/business/apple/docs/rhapsody0512.htm leads
one to belive that the problem with Rhapsody is that the developers did not
sufficiently embrace it, since writing software to take full advantage of
Rhapsodys' features is a major effort, as opposed to porting current Mac
OS8 apps to Mac OS X.
What is unforunate is that Rhapsody promised that new apps written for it
could be readily ported to run on any PC platform, as well as being able to
easily run Windoze apps. Now that would be cool. OS X does not make this
same promises.
It's ironic, isn't it? Amelio pushed through the deal to buy Jobs' company
Next and bring their technology into Apple, and now Jobs is throwing much
of it away. But he made big bucks off the Next sale, right? So however much
Jobs might dislike Amelio (currently on a book tour telling everyone that
Apples' current profitablility is due to changes he implemented) in the
long run Amelio ended up enriching Jobs bank account...
