That was fun, Julie!
I started in 1994, did my first surfing with Mosaic, and remember the
very first beta versions of Netscape (ok, we had <center>, and <hX> from
the start, and then we got real layout capabilities thanks to <table>,
but then came <blink>, sigh <g>).
The first site I designed/coded went online at the very end of '94 (was
my Christmas present to my then-employer) with a free domain name from
the 'NIC and an image map (yowza ;-)).
Now, thanks in part to this group, I'm able to keep up and know of the
newest, latest and greatest technologies without spending 100% of my
time surfing to find them (THANKS, GUYS!), and contributing when I can,
and finding that many of the latest-and-greatest techniques and
technologies don't necessarily serve my clients' needs <g>.
I've actually done some backtracking in second-generation versions of
client sites now that I've been able to show them that the "tricks" that
they insisted on really weren't bringing them any more traffic. HeeHee
- one of these days a client may actually listen to me. Nah ;-)
Oh, and THANKS, too, to all those who responded about the
multi-email-account programs. I'm downloading Pegasus (for the Mac) as
I compose this email. Figured it would take less time to download than
M$ Outlook <g>.
