the Scientologist's latest efforts to rid the web off all things 
anti-scientology has some interesting material in it about their latest 
strategy to flood search engines with so much pro-scientology material 
that their opponents can't be found.  A think piece on the subject if

You have to get to page 2 (past the discussion about their own personal 
content filters that keep members from seeing unapproved things on the 
web), but the part about how they're distributing template sites with 
built in keywords to all members is somewhat interesting.  I don't 
remember if the URL for a sample site I have came from that article or 
not, but here's one of their 7300 generic sites with keywords and other 
strategies intact:

Anyway, I personally wouldn't mind a bit if Xenu came down from the 
heavens and took all of these loonies away, so please don't translate 
this as advocating scientology.  They do manipulate technology and 
infromation quite effectively though, and are always a good source of 
lessons on that  ;)  Probably some ideas for marketing in their approach, 
too  *chuckle*
