Linux actually hides stuff still. It has lots of GUI's to help
you do things, FreeBSD is all command line stuff.

Thats the great thing about UNIX. You could make a solution to a
problem in C, C++, Perl, AWK, Sed, sh, or tcsh and they would all be right !

Well.. What type of CD is it ? EIDE or SCSI ? When you
installed it, didn't it find the CD ?
Also, are you trying to mount the drive as something other than
root ? I believe that it is installed such that you must be root
to mount the CD ROM.
