I never claimed I considered it a *useful* page...it's more for amusement
than anything else. (Although our PR department does sneak some of those
numbers into the occasional press release...)

I do the regular logfile analysis thing as well. (In fact, until we moved
our web servers onto FreeBSD boxes, I was the official maintainer for the
DOS and Win32 ports of Analog.) All my public stats pages are linked from

A suggestion on the referrer analysis: one of the things I like about the
newer versions of Analog is the ability to group entries from a particular
search engine together and then list out the individual queries
underneath.

Here's an example selection...

   6995: Aug/ 4/98 15:58: http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query
    118: Mar/ 8/98 13:36:
http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=informative+speech&hc=0&hs=0
    112: Feb/10/98 17:07:
http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=butterfly+knives&hc=0&hs=0
     66: Jul/ 1/98 21:54:
http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=trident9440&z=2&hc=0&hs=0
     46: May/ 5/98 09:19: http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=airesearch&hc=0&hs=0
     45: Jul/ 2/98 09:52: http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=john+inman&hc=0&hs=0
     38: Jul/ 2/98 02:08: http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=pulse+jet&hc=0&hs=1
     33: May/ 6/98 04:12: http://av.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=trident9440&hc=0&hs=0

I like the way it gives me a sense of how many hits I've received overall
from Yahoo! (the first line), as well as the specific queries that brought
people my way.
