For all of you trying to get good search engine positions and lots of
traffic, I thought some of you might find this little observation
interesting... on how press reports can substantially change what is being
asked for on the search engines.

If you look at my search engine statistics site below, please DO flog
me and my pages. I really could use some ideas from great minds like yours
on how to better set up the pages, make things more obvious, etc. Unlike
some of my automatically generated high tech sites, this one is made for
non-Ph d's. Or is supposed to be!

Latest version of the search engine pages should be uploaded in about
two hours, 10am PST, 1pm Eastern time; but the current set isn't too bad.
(Unless something screws up the automated re-gen and transfer. How's the
old joke go "there is nothing to worry about (Click) to worry about
(Click) to worry about...") All it is missing on the current site, is the
links to the order forms on another site. The data on the site is
normally updated on Monday.

    Suggestions Welcome!

Subject: SE Report: Hot Word Alert

*** SEARCH ENGINE HOT WORD ALERT ***

The search engine query "cam", has rocketed from last week's position
of 184th most common query, to within the top four on all engines polled
on Thursday. When compared with single words, as opposed to queries, it is
now in the top 20 keywords. "webcam" and "camcorder" are also highly
elevated on both lists.

This is believed to be relate to an ABC News article Wednesday, about
a Sony digital camcorder with a since corrected "defect" of being able to
"see" through some fabrics, notably nylon and silk when set to Infra-Red
mode. http://www.cnn.com/TECH/science/9808/14/see.through.camera.ap/

(Sad to say, a lot of potential home medical uses, such as home
cancer detection, may have been prevented. When experimenting with this
camera after the news article, a friend who happened to already own one of
the "uncorrected" cameras found it can detect circulatory changes when
used in the dark, making it potentially useful for biofeedback training
applications as well.)

(Hot word alerts are not a regular feature of your subscription, but
are offered as a separate service.)
