If anyone gets a job and the client wants to be located on dev-com.com,
or you are considering using their services, I strongly recomend turning
you back on them.
I just finished up a CGI contract for a client that used dev-com's
secure server ... well... I was hell dealing with them. All the cgi
work I did worked fine on perl2000.com's servers and at home in my linux
box. But, when I would upload to dev-com ... it all went to garbage.
CGIs would come up with errors when I check them with perl's debugger,
via the web they would error out. Here some of the problems were is
that use a different set of permissions to make the CGIs executable (755
doesn't work).
Their tech support leaves a lot for desired ... one response to an email
I sent went like this:
"Dear Customer,
This is a reply to your email regarding your perl cgi script. You can't
use html tags inside the perl script. I removed those Html tags and
your test.cgi works. This problem has nothing to do with cgi-bin.
There's nothing wrong with this directory."
About three hours later they emailed me again they were mistaken and you
CAN use html tags within perl scripts...
Then the company started badmouth and insulting me to other people, I
found out cuz they told my client. She is still impressed by my work
though and has sent me a 3rd contract. She is very disapointed in
dev-com as well and will nolonger refer and of her clients to them.
