don't even get me started..

i have to put up with publishers from 22 different newspapers, so i hear
this one every other day. at present, archiving is a significant revenue
stream for newspapers, and they aren't about to throw that away (bizspeke:
"cannibalize the core product") for warm fuzzies online.

hell, i have enough trouble convincing them to put the news online *at
all*.. first, they're afraid of taking a sales hit on the print product;
second, they're afraid that the broadcast media will take really fresh
information from a website and put it on the 5:00 news, thus 'scooping' the
paper with its own material.

me being a confirmed data socialist ("information is free.. deal with it"),
you can imagine some of the discussions this has produced.
