one of the (N + too many) hats i wear involves staff training. one
of my most common rants deals with what i call 'leaping to
solutions'.. a situation where people try to describe what they want
by giving examples, rather than listing the requirements. it's the
difference between "what it should be" and "what it should do".
you've just summed up both the problem and the solution quite nicely.
