I recently moved a site from one host to another. The site includes one of
the standard slightly-modified Matt's Script Archive WWWBoards.
Readers claim (and I see it, too) that they are seeing hyperlinked
messages showing up as not read (not visited) when they in fact have
been read (visited).
I have witnessed this with this board only ... I go and read messages; I
come back later and all, or maybe some, of the messages I read have
unvisited link colors. This did not happen when the board was on the
other host's server. I thought I understood that it was all each individual's
browser cache that held the information on what was visited and what
was not. Can something happen on the server to affect this? It is not a
situation in which the cache is cleared out or the visited links age out of
the cache; it's much too frequent for that. And yet it doesn't happen with
every visit.
Thanks for any info.
Ann
