Ok, I went to my NT manuals just to make sure and yes, you can run WINS
without DNS. You set up WINS on one of your NT servers, and then setup each
of the other machines with WINS server's IP address. The WINS server needs a
static IP address. According to the manual, WINS is a dynamic database for
registering and resolving NetBIOS name-to-IP address mappings in a network.
(Microsoft Windows NT Technical Support training guide).
