Sounds like Lawrence Tribe if that is his first name. I listen to
books-on-tape and my favorite economist mentioned that name over and
over in one of the tapes. The economist is Thomas Sowell. I respect
his opinion very highly.
To me this whole thing is a question of character. Clinton doesn't
have it and shouldn't be president and I've felt that way ever since
I saw Clinton. I am not suprised at anything he does. I would look
for any opportunity to get him out of office. I am not amazed that
he doesn't resign. In Brazil they have a very popular saying, "sem
vergonha" which roughly translates as "without shame". You see, they
have a lot of Clintons in Brazil.
It was in Brazil where I finally realized that there are people who
succeed not by reason but by deception. Of course I read Ayn Rand
many years ago but I admired the character of Hank Rearden,John Galt,
Dagny Taggart, and Howard Roark; I spent little or no time thinking
of the other characters. It was in Brazil where I came to realize,
damn these people think they can tell me this is gold when I can see
it is silver. And these were not "bad" people; they presented no
physical harm and they would also be my "friend".
The cup is half-full. I don't want to try and make the cup full by
lowering the rim of the cup; don't lower the standards. Aim high and
expect others to aim high. All this talk of how bad other Presidents
were and how bad Starr is beside the point. Just because there are
few people with strong character does not mean we should redefine it.
All of this really makes me shudder. I think I am going to put up a
webpage just to start my own one-man poll where I can say "the man
does not have the character to be the President of the United States
of America". 100% in favor or his resigning or convict on
impeachment.
