Do you want reliability? Don't over-clock! With idiots not using
parity or ECC on their RAM, and other such checks to make sure that data
has not been corrupted, you really don't want to run your CPU or
motherboard bus beyond its ratings.

Having been sold an over-clocked chip that did not work reliably, I
REALLY don't want to repeat the mistake!!! The CPU would run ok for a
while, then things would start going wrong. I thought it was the
software, then maybe the RAM was going bad... It was a mess. I replaced
parts I should not have. And I was not the only one who got bit this way.
The time cost is way over what it would cost to get a faster chip!

I know, I know, you might get there 12% faster by speeding... or you
might crash. Or even worse, fudge a few calculations now and then and not
notice till the kid mowing your lawn pockets a $12,000 check.

I applaud Intel and AMD's decision. It is about time they did this
to save us from crooks.
