Lotus have various offerings (at least here) from the Intranet Starter Pack
right up to full-blown e-commerce offerings. From memory, the Intranet
Starter Pack can be had for maybe $2,500 (Australian - say a sandwich and a
couple of beers US <g>) right upto $100,000 (again Australian - say, a good
three course meal at the Tribeca Grill). Don't know about US pricing but
check www.domino.lotus.com/
As for ease of use. We're talking in the context of a knowledgeable
web-developer building the site and ordinary mortals updating the site
through the Notes client, which is what we do all the time. Notes is very
easy to learn to use - the average total newbie can be functional in
half-an-hour. Learning to build a site in Domino would take the average
web-developer maybe a week or three, depending on their experience. I had a
pretty good idea after a one-week course at Lotus. Of course, this doesn't
begin to leverage the full power of Notes, but again, we're talking in the
context of using it to build a site that can be easily updated by
non-literate ppl.
btw Lotus runs on NT and Unix (AIX and Solaris I think). And given the
number of techies in IBM that are Linux freaks, i wouldn't be the least
surprised to see it ported to Linux sometime in the future.
