Thanks to all of you for your replies.

I did forget to mention in my original post that frames were not an option.
I need to be able to set this up for a cross-browser user group, and in
addition, I hate frames, especially invisible ones. (I will be the first to
admit that I have used them when absolutely necessary, but still don't like
them because of the "back" and "bookmark" issues. I will give Gentry's
suggestion a try, as I had not used marginwidth at all.
OTOH, I did
see some really cool frame sites that were basically about changing images
in different frames for the sake of doing so.
)

Now, to Barry and Kathy, I am the last person to try and mimic something
from print and try and port it to the web. I know, I've archived two years
of a magazine up to the web, and the editor still asks me why it doesn't
look like the magazine it came from. Go figure.

My more immediate concern is not with a look or the fonts or other issues,
it is with real estate. I still need to fit clear, logical navigation and
a fair amount of info within a limited space, 640 pixels. If I can pick up
another 10 pixels top and side, that's great, and I'll use them. If not,
I'll figure it out some other way.

Anyway, thanks again to all of you. It's why I love being on this list.

Ari
