this may be a bit premature, but i've been considering offering colocation
for WC members on my own network.

i've just upgraded my connection, and now have a 64-block of IP addresses
subnetted through a private router card in my ISP's Cisco 7200. (for the
non-geeks in the audience, that's somewhere between 'fast' and
'screaming'). i'm directly downstream from 3 load-balanced T1s, so meteor
strikes and backhoe operators excepted, it's a fairly reliable pipe.

i still want to install some limited firewall proxies, to conserve my IP
space,
and i can't make any promises about tech support. my target audience
would be at the low-maintenance ends of the presence spectrum: people who
want a stable connection and FTP access for a plain-vanilla website at one
end, and people who want a private box under their own control at the other.

the cost would be based strictly on per-day bandwidth limits, derived on
the rates i get from my ISP. i'm already getting a bulk discount, so the
numbers would be in roughly the same range as the major providers.

it's not something i'm ready to do immediately, but if anyone is interested
in talking about it, please contact either me or Brett off-list.
