Today, at Trinity Communications, http://www.trinitynet.com/, I had my
interview for full time web developer. Trinity Communications is an
advertising / marketing company that used to be The New England's
<http://www.tne.com/> marketing department.

It was one of the strangest interviews I have been in my past 2 1/2 years
of contracting...

Not one technical web question was asked in the 45 minute interview.
Nothing about HTML. Nothing about Web Programming. Nothing about the sites
in my portfolio I gave them. Nada. They didn't even want to see my
portfolio.

Was interviewed by two people, one of the founders of the company, and an
associate, the "Producer", who had only been with the company for a couple
of months. Of course, I went a bit "overboard", as always, in researching
the company, and found a few articles in INC magazine that the new person
had never heard about, including how Trinity was founded (Direct info about
the company, itself was scanty at best on their web site.). Now that
impressed 'em. ;}

And, what really surprised me was their first question:
They were impressed that "Gadfly Design", which only have been existing
since March, already had two "clients"... but wanted to make doubly sure
that I -would- be able to dedicate my time to Trinity. "When would you be
finished with your clients, and start working for our clients?"

I replied... "Well, not -now-... maybe an hour from now..." ;} ... and at
the end of the interview, the guy who interviewed me said "And you won't be
ready for work now... but an hour from now." ;}

And it seems to be one of the strangest companies I have ever seen. ;}

No job titles. No "Senior This" or "Junior that", or "VP of this"... it is
supposedly a flat managerial chain, where everyone is an associate. Plus
all the mentoring programs in Boston, the volunteer work for shelters...
Whew!

I should hear about it sometime next week ...

I think either:
* They really loved me so much, and since they already had my resume, and
my portfolio, they didn't need any technical details, since they were going
to wait for the second interview.

* They didn't want the technical details because I could have been walking
on water, turning water into wine, or speaking Perl Poetry, but the guy who
they saw last week, or maybe the day before, they want -him-, and they were
just going thru the motions. ;}

But the funniest thing of the interview was when they asked me my best
skill. I was so nervous, I started stuttering badly. "Muh- my best skill is
Ca-ca-ca-cammunications." ;}
