Couldn't agree more.  The first time I saw one of Siegel's sites (after 
hearing all the orgasmic hoopla about the guy), I was put in mind of 'The 
Emperor's New Clothes' -- thought to myself, "Jeez, this is pretentious and 
derivative drivel, annoying to navigate and twenty years out of date in its 
Warholesque pop-art presumptions."  Siegel's work was a good example of 
what to avoid in site design, but that's as far as his beneficial influence 
ever went.  Couldn't understand why so many people insisted on seeing 
new clothes that simply weren't there.  Novelty, I suppose.

By coincidence, I happened to stumble upon his silly "Casbah" site last 
weekend -- been a couple of years since I last saw it -- and was thinking 
about posting to the list to say, "Hey, remember Siegel?? Lo how the 
mighty have fallen", or something.  But I passed... he's irrelevant by this 
point.
