Brett... Personally, my favorite is one that I have just finished for a
client... now, the site isn't there yet ('cause I hate putting unfinished
work up).. but the splash page is - so they could get a feel for what they
were getting.

One of the things that I like most about the splash page is the opportunity
to show off a rather large piece of art work (you'll notice that I used the
digital painting of a tiger here) and at the same time gives the "surfer" a
very good feel for the site before being bombarded with text and so forth...
At times I feel that even a graphic works without a single word - as you can
see on the splash page for my site entitled "Love Letters"

It's simple, but totally drives in the point of the site...
