As far as my understanding of web-color and the 216-color palette is
concerned, the named colors used on the page linked above stray frequently
from the web-safe pallet. For example, of the first five colors listed, only
one of them (aqua) falls inside the 216 color palette:
#F0F8FF aliceblue
#FAEBD7 antiquewhite
#00FFFF aqua
#7FFFD4 aquamarine
#F0FFFF azure
What is the reasoning behind using so many of these color names if they will
produce unpredictable results on some user's machines? If it's just for
convenience sake, why where so many color names devised that fall outside
the web-safe palette?
