Gee, is this trouble.
I posted a url where someone could see that mysql was working fine. I
KNOW that because it was working fine yesterday when I installed it.
I have received and very rarely given people wrong username/password
pairs so I usually like test what I say is (when I can). Well I went
to germantown.net and lo and behold the darn thing wouldn't work.
Error is could not connect to mysql server.
I telnetted to the site and my disk usage was at 59 megs. Ummm. kind
of odd as my quota is like 36 meg and the last time I checked I was
at about 28 meg. How did I suddenly get 59 meg. I ran all sorts of
finds on file sizes and pared down to 48 meg but I cannot delete
anything else unless I start cutting 2k and 4k files. What happened?
I looked at rede.com and it was at 125 meg and the last time I had
looked it was only around 80 meg.
And now I cannot get the mysql server running. I have a feeling it is
somehow related to my disk usage. What else? It worked yesterday.
Anyhow I think it is sometimes worthwhile reading the troubles we run
into at hosting companies. What iserver is currently doing is I think
unparalleled in the hosting business. But they should have exercised
some foresight and they should hire some better tech support. It
must be oughful for people running commercial sites there.
