Javilk, I have yet to see any hosting company offer what iserver
offers. They are now offering all the latest Apache modules (except
for a few like mod_perl which they are working on); I just installed
the mod_status module in my httpd.conf file and made some changes in
my access.conf file, restarted the server, and now you can see this:
http://www.germantown.net/server-status/
. They have installed the latest stable version of Apache, they also
installed mySQL so that each customer gets his own mySQL server (or
so it appears). That is in addition to PostgreSQL and mSQL; all at
no charge and they were doing this long before the rest. They have
an excellent online help system although it may be a bit daunting.
They have worked on improving the navigation.
But certainly I think there was a lack of communication. They let us
know that these changes were coming but I dont' recall reading about
changes to their "vdiskuse" tool. Since I sent my earlier post I
have heard back from their tech support. He told me that "vdiskuse"
would include files owned by root which were not considered part of
my disk usage. He told me to use "quota" which indicated a disk usage
of around 15 meg (hard to believe that either though). But oh well.
He did not know the problem I had with mysql. He said he would pass
it to the mysql expert. We exchanged 2 emails in the last couple of
hours.
Being that I am so lazy I just went and re-installed mysql as all it
took was this command:
installmysql
and my old databases were there and all is working now.
