>Didja ever notice how, when an IBMer mentions Apple/MAC in less than
>hushed, reverent tones, some people act all hurt and affronted like
>they've been personally attacked and they immediately assume a defensive

uh, Gerry..

if you're gonna pour high-octane flame bait all over a mailing list, you
can sorta expect people to respond.. negatively, even.

i've skimmed the responses myself, and thought the tone has been fairly
moderate. people have mentioned the difference in rendering of the
browser-safe palette on different platforms, the differences in gamma
settings between Win machines and Macs, and that having one's work checked
on several platforms is generally a good idea. they've also mentioned
that Macs are generally regarded as superior graphics machines.. a position
the industry as a whole seems to support.

given an opening shot like:

>What do you do about this? Design everything as if
>it were going to be displayed on Etch-A-Sketch? I'm running an IBM
>clone 486 with a 1024 by whatever rez monitor, definitely not state of
>the art, but I'll take it any day over the MAC. Any comments?

i think we can safely say you were.. literally.. asking for it.

if you don't want Mac users getting all defensive and hostile, try opening
a conversation *without* kicking them in the teeth.
