The Linux development community already numbers in the hundreds
of thousands.

It's not inherently portable.  It scales badly.  It is basically
a single-user system with added baggage to attempt to make it multi-user.
It fails to incorporate basic Internet protocols in a standards-compliant
fashion (where it incorporates them at all).  It's incredibly insecure.
