About a year ago I purchased and downloaded Eudora v4 for the PC. It was a
huge download (35 Mb) in a special compressed format. During installation
it ballooned to around 80 Mb! I could hardly believe that their email
software had grown so large. My wife knew the Eudora Product Manager at
Qualcomm and asked her about it. She said that the download included MS IE
v3! Apparently Eudora used some MS IE components for the new message
preview window and to read HTML email.
I told her that I already had MS IE v3 on my system, and it annoyed me to
no end to download all those megabytes that I didn't need. Qualcomm should
have offered a download version without MS IE for those who already had it.
I suspect this was just another way for M$ to muscle in to people's systems
unknowlingly. During the Eudora install process I was never informed that
MS IE was being installed.
Now that the DOJ suit is offering us unequivocal evidence via videotape
that Gates is a prevaricating (lying) sneaky (ruthless) jerk (SOB) one can
see that M$ arrogance comes from the very top...
