i use tlenet all the time, though I am no Unix guru by far.
The best place to get Telnet, I think is

Tucows has tons of good stuff.
The standard is NCSA Telnet, but I have been using Better Telnet and find
it good.
Using your telnet client you log on to the server, type in your User ID and
password. You will get a prompt of some kind, depending on the shell (% $
or something)
Just type the command: passwd
Then follow the directions on the screen.
