The beauty of the Internet is that, for the most part, it *is* available 
to anyone. While you can't change the fact that a great deal of the money 
power is aiming at U.S. Net users (who happen to make up a sizeable 
percentage of the Net populace) -- sort of a "resistance is futile, you 
will be assimilated" situation -- you can still make your own efforts to 
shape the Web according to your vision. It may not have a heck of an 
impact, but it's better than nothing. It's better than complaining, and 
certainly better than not resisting. :-)

Why not make up a site for Canadian Thanksgiving next year?  From what I 
understand, celebration of Thanksgiving in Canada (coincides with the 
U.S.'s lame Columbus Day) is fairly widespread. I enjoyed a lovely dinner 
with some Canadian friends this year, in fact.
