   Yes, if you are willing to work with recruiters.  Sometimes the fish
just are not biting for them, and that is when you have to go fishing
yourself.  At any rate, when you do it yourself, you generally have more
control over the work, and get to keep about a third more of the income.

   Sometimes that is the case.  I started doing this in the middle of the
recession, when waiting was too long.  I can wait forever, get two or
three calls a day, and still not get work.  60 percent of the projects
that the agents think they have, evaporate before anyone starts. And of
those that start, some portion is filled with internal transfers during a
recession.  So what you get, often isn't what you would prefer anyway.

     Yes, I deal with agents too.  But these days, they just seem not to
get me the kind of work I want to do.  They push whatever they get a lot
of, mostly Q/A, which does not give one much of a notch on the old resume.
