We have a client who is using Americart and MerchantPlanet on a main site
and a mirror site. They have been very happy with both. There are slight
differences. One (I don't remember which) always keeps orders on archive,
while the other deletes the order as soon as the merchant retrieves it.
The client did most of the setup herself. The most difficult part was
getting a credit card verification account that worked with the ecommerce
services. A lesson from her trials is to NOT sign any contracts until
you're positive that all will work together.
The following is a laundry list of links and recommendations that I've

"We happened to choose the Americart program in part because of the good
deal through pair Networks at http://www.pair.com and in part because of
my client's budget. Americart and pair Networks have a deal for only $15
a month for the shopping cart use. With the technology changing so
quickly and having a limited budget, this was a good alternative for the
client."
