Before I screwed around with any of this, I'd make sure I have the
latest, greatest stuff from my modem manufacturer.
I screwed around for ages before upgrading my V.90 stuff, even after
several dozen emails from the manufacturer. Continuously subjected to
connection speeds of 29.2 and 31.3K with my 56K modem.
A 5 minute process from USR website, automated call to an 800 number . .
