Trying to keep up with this thread, though I admit it is getting hard to do
that.

The .us domain structure is more of a nightmare than the TLD domain
structure.  Has anyone here tried to get one?  At least here in New Mexico
you have to go through 6, yes SIX political and legal hoops.

About the only groups that are even allowed to get it are schools and
non-profit orignazations.  That cuts out all business and personal sites.

As far as things are now, there is no way to currently fix the problems
other than "grin and bear it".  Maybe when Internet3 finally comes out (from
the reports I have seen Internet2 is doing quite well for edu and gov sites)
these problems will be assessed and fixed.
