Sigh.  I think you're buying into their hype.  AOL's user count
inflation practices have allegedly included:

        - assuming one user per screen name
        - counting users who signed up for a trial period and didn't stay
        - using estimated user count per household instead of actual users
        - counting inactive accounts
        - counting accounts which users have requested be closed

These and other tactics have purpotedly been used over a period of years
to artificially increase AOL's user numbers.  David Cassel's "AOL watch"
newsletter has discussed these over and over again; if even half of what
he says is true, AOL has far fewer users than they claim.
