It doesn't matter whether you go from MOV - Quicktime/RealVideo or from
AVI - Quicktime/RealVideo.

Your end result will be a Quicktime or a RealVideo file anyway.

PROCESS:

1) Video Input (Camera, VHS, Beta)
        to
2) Computer with video capture card and capture software.
Save the captured video as a AVI file if you'r on a PC or
Save the captured video as a MOV file if you're on a Mac
        to
3) Converter software (Encoder) that would make it Quicktime or RealVideo

My suggestion is to always save the file on Step 2 -- burn it on a CD (since
it will be a big one being 12 minutes long). That way, you can reuse it
once again when you decide to move up to MPEG. We have been working on ways
to go from Step 1 to MPEG right away, and there are softwares out there that
will play MPEG files using the G2 player or Windows Media Player. (I'm not
sure about the Quicktime player, but I think it's in the works as well.)

Good luck! Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I've been
deeply into this kind of stuff the past 2 years now.
