Until recently most DOS/Windows viruses were passed around on infected
floppy disks or in infected software downloaded from BBS's. What has NT types
nervous is that this latest virus was specifically designed to propagate over
the network. This manner of infection is not new to UNIX but is a fairly new
problem for DOS/Windows/NT. Before you were pretty safe if you didn't put
outside floppys in your machine and were selective about where you obtained
free software. Now you have to be more vigilant unless you don't want to be
connected to the Internet.
