Not all Hotmail is spam. A bunch of my friends and I regularly work at computers
that are not our own -- consulting, bug fixing, etc. Our communication method of
choice is to use our HoTMaiL accounts because we invariably have a browser
available wherever we are, so it is far simpler to jump into HoTMaiL to check our
mail than to figure out, then override or bypass (and risk messing up) the setup on
the machine. While most of the local ISPs that we use will allow us to read our
POP mail when logged in via another service, they are becoming very restrictive on
what we can send when we are not logged in directly with them on our own accounts.
This tactic has really cut down on the spammers who use the "repeater" feature to
send zillions of messages from an ISP where they have no business.

Actuall, my HoTMaiL spam has really dropped to less than one a day; perhaps the
filters my ISP is using are culling all the obvious spam -- I know he's working
hard at it.
