You are on the right track. QT is a good cross-platform format for 
your CD-ROM and when QT4 is released, it will be easy to stream on 
the web. In the meantime, RealVideo is the most popular format for 
web streaming and you are most likely to find your visitors to have 
it installed than anything else.

There is firm in Seattle that does a good job of digitizing video for 
the web/CD-roms - Encoding.com Their prices are very reasonable and 
they can accept just about any tape format as input and will let you 
pick and choose as many output formats as you need, both codec type 
and quality.
