This makes me feel a little more like I didn't miss something obvious.

By the way, a somewhat functional cascading menu I did late one night just
with JavaScript (using timers and other nastiness) is up at
http://www.mfuniversity.com/siemens/classes.html (try moving your mouse
slowly up and down the menu). To the extent that it's worth anything, folks
on this list may feel free to use the JavaScript code.
