It's been done -- multiple times, and it has resulted in massive
denial-of-service attacks on the InterNIC, as recently as last week.
Unfortunately, the InterNIC does not seem to have either the will
or the technical expertise to defend itself (and indirectly, us)
from such attacks. This is no surprise: over a period of many years,
they have failed to take any action whatsoever even when presented
with examples of the most egregious violations of *their own policies*,
including obviously falsified registration data. The chickens have
simply come home to roost.

They *are* selling customer data. Some of this have verified this
by causing information to appear in their databases which appears nowhere
else and then tracking where that information ends up.
