Only 20 minutes???
You should try programming on occasion... It was half a year before
I found the previous programmer had declared a counter as signed (plus and
minus,) but used it as unsigned in one place, and signed in another... so
on the rare occasions when it hit the limit, it rolled over into the
negative values and caused the program go crazy and crash.
Those kinds of problems are not that unusual when using programming
languages like C and Assembler. Buffer overflow errors, off by one errors,
etc.... (Sigh...) Hominids were never intended to be such picky detail
oriented folks. But you know how it is, any successful design gets used
to the limit, then extended beyond the original design specs till it
starts falling apart. We revision N hominids, humans, are no exception.
Then you stack us together in Dilbertesque cubicles... AArrghhhh!!!!!!
The only thing that frightens me more that seeing how stupid and
ignorant people are, is thinking how stupid and ignorant I must be.
Dilbert to the contrary, if it were not for all of us working together
sharing what little we know, our life span would be about 25 - 30 years,
as it is for primitives in the wild. Only in this century, did our
average life span exceed 50 years. That is a tribute to our growing
reliance upon each other and our saving and sharing what we learn about
the intricacies of this world.
