happened to see this in the "Ask Dr. BOFH" section of the Network Week
website (http://www.networkweek.com/drbofh/) and nearly hurt myself
laughing:
>Ailment: Documents created in Word 6.0 using Windows 3.11 have
>Universal Greek with Math PI fonts in them. After a change of
>O.S. to NT 4.0, these documents are recalled from the network.
>However the Universal Greek with Math pi fonts show up as some
>small icons (a mouse, a mailbox etc). We have the font already
>installed in Control Panel. How can we get these documents to
>display properly when they are recalled in NT 4.0 ???
>
>Dr. BOFH's remedy: There's nothing you can do, I'm afraid - in
>fact you're rather ahead of the game in implementing the new
>standards. Microsoft has redefined the English alphabet to
>include these new symbols, because the old ones were rather dull
>and boring. Watch the company's Web site for the redefinition of
>the grammar rules over the next week or two - and remember:
>"mouse before mailbox except after little splodge that looks
>rather like a Ford Cortina". The company welcomes comments on
>whether a double pencil is acceptable after a vowel.
