Technically, it's a worm, not a virus.  It is an .exe file received 
as an email attachment.  If run, it puts a little graphics display 
on the screen of fireworks (kids run it without question and say 
"that's cute").  In addition to the fireworks, it worms its way into 
your email program and automatically (and not obviously, I 
guess) attaches itself to every email that you send.  Therefore, 
others receive it, think you have sent them a cute program, and 
end up sending it out with all of their email, etc.

As stated before, it is not executable on Macs (or not as easy 
as double-clicking anyway).

I have helped several friends rid their system of the Trojan horse 
and just received another happy99.exe attachment today!
