Weird. A couple years ago I built a CGI-upload page for an AOLer
to use to get stuff to me (he was doing art for a website, for various
weird corporate reasons). It worked fine. Try having your friend use
AOL to get on the net, then boot Netscape Navigator and surf with that.
Another thought is that AOL has some sort of thing to allow users
to set up their own website. Have your friend stick his document on
his AOL website long enough for you to grab it. (This was our fallback
strategy in the case above, though we never had to use it).
