Hey folks,
I (or rather one of my larger clients) need a tool to map a site
and produce a graphical display. They're even willing to pay for one
:-). The last time I looked into this was a few years ago, when I
found many scripts & programs to "walk" over a site but nothing to
produce a visual map. I know this is actually a lot harder to code
than it might seem at first glance, but maybe somebody's come up with
something?
If I had my druthers, there was a graphical file hierarchy
display that SGI released with a set of fun 3D tools a few years back
(another of the set was a file system browser that was used in the
movie Jurassic Park, in the scene near the end where the girl restarts
the computer system - I thought the file hierarchy display was slicker
:-). It produced a fully three dimensional map of the file system,
with the ability to rotate the view and to select a particular file or
directory at the "bottom" and bring that path to the front of the
viewpoint. Something like that would be useful in managing a website,
I'd think.
