Well, given that I use iserver. I was able to piggyback on their 
certificate:

https://rede.securesites.com/

You don't get the this certificate and name ... da. daa .da ..da. 
(although my links go to non-secure so you get that warning). It is 
easy enough to just put a form there and all is well.

Cost: a one time US$50.00 charge to install the secure webserver 
which can be done via a webform and is done as soon as you request 
it.

I recently did a form for a secure site where we took credit cards.  
No one wanted to spend money so I did the following:

I saved the first X digits of the credit card to a local database.
I then sent the remaining X digits of the card via email to someone 
who was authorized to lookup this customer in the online database to 
get the other digits.

I have not come up with a viable way to encrypt the credit card 
numbers before putting them into an online database that would equal 
the encryption via the secure server.

I believe my solution is both secure, simple and cheap but not as 
efficient as I would like.
